The shape of success is shifting.

Boomers and Gen-Xers have traditionally associated success primarily with wealth and economic power. But the landscape is evolving. The vision and values of our current and most recent generations have transformed and enriched today’s understanding and pursuit of success. Wealth is still part of it, but not at the expense of previously esoteric terms like well-being, remote work, diversity and inclusion, and social impact enterprise. Success now goes beyond financial prosperity.

We now know that well-being drives productivity, and remote work weighs in on our job choices. We also know that diversity enhances performance not because of gender or religious beliefs but because diverse thinking sparks diverse solutions, and that social impact matters to our emerging breed of entrepreneurs for whom ‘it’s not just about the money.’

We have embraced novel approaches too in our quest for success – artificial intelligence (AI), innovation and venture building, and behavioral change design. AI is expediting and commoditizing the execution of repetitive manual and mental tasks. Innovation and venture building are helping companies future-proof themselves. Behavior change design is enabling us to influence behavior where rules and rationality have failed.
